Beacon Hill Laundry Room Tour

If you follow me on Instagram you will already know that I picked up the most amazing house on FB Marketplace a couple of days ago. The original owner did such an incredible job building it 20+ years ago and although I want to update it in my style, I also want to keep much of the house’s original beautiful character and charm.

Joy, on Instagram, gave me the most incredible idea on how to approach the redesign of this house. She said to give the house a story and her idea was that a young couple inherited the home from one of their grandparents. Love that idea!

Going with that great story idea from Joy, I thought that the young couple probably wouldn’t have tons of money to do a major modern home renovation, but instead they would just use what’s in the house currently, diy what they could and add their own personal touch with some new decor and furniture pieces throughout the house.

Now with the house’s story in mind I started my mini redecorating project in the laundry room. I kept the original wallpaper, beautiful hardwood flooring and dark trim, and just added a new washer and dryer, some pretty decor pieces and wall art.

When I bought the house, everything that was attached to the walls was attached with this double-sided foam tape, which has been very difficult to remove and in the laundry room for example, I ended up tearing some of the wallpaper taking the things off the walls. So to fix the torn wallpaper issue, I used some frames that came with the house, swapped out the artwork for something a little more new and fresh, and added plexiglass to the frame, to give the pictures a more “real” feel. The artwork now sits on any torn spots on the original paper.

I can’t tell you how happy I am with how this room turned out! Love the house’s story and can’t wait to redecorate the next room. Question for you, what room should I redecorate next? I was thinking of tackling the kitchen or the bathroom, but they both really big projects, so maybe I’ll just do one of the 3 hallways, office or bedroom? And then there is the living room, which also might be a little on the big side for redoing just now.

I will also try to post a full “before” tour of this house soon here as well, but until then you can see the tour in my saved Stories on Instagram.

Happy mini making!
