Mini Mundus Living Room

First up on the Mini Mundus tour is the living room. I wanted the space to be light and bright, layered with natural woods and textures. I painted everything a creamy white and added a lot of wood accents like the wainscotting and trim work, and used textured fabrics like burlap and linen to achieve the look.

Mini Mundus has a great selection of windows, doors, real wood flooring and even kits to build your own custom staircase. Building staircases for me is never fun, but the Mini Mundus kits made the process much more enjoyable and easy this time around. I built the staircase giving it the illusion like it was going to an upstairs, but in reality it doesn’t actually lead anywhere, which is something you can do in the imaginary world of mini land. :-)

Probably my most favourite pieces in this living room are the sofa and chair. Using the Chippendale Wing Chair kit and the Chippendale Sofa kit, I decided to make my version of Restoration Hardware’s deconstructive furniture, mini style. Using linen for the main portion of the chair and sofa, and burlap for the backs and sides, the deconstructive look came together perfectly.

The table kit can be found here and I just cut the leg of the table to make it coffee table height. For the side table you can find it here and the table at the entrance is also a kit which can be found here.

Every cosy living room needs of course a fireplace. I made this fireplace using the Chimney Flue kit which I wrapped in a textured paper brick design and added the fireplace surround which I painted back.

One of my favourite spots in the living room is the little office nook. It makes the perfect spot for studying, writing letters and paying bills. The desk was built using this kit and the chair kit can be found here.

Next post in the Mini Mundus house tour is the kitchen! Hope to see you there!
