Hillside Manor
Hillside Manor is my 2nd miniature house. I found the house on FB Marketplace from its original owner which she had placed in storage for many years. The house was in its original victorian style when I bought it and in much need of much updating and love.
So far I have done 2 full renovations on this house. My first renovation was in a modern farmhouse style with lots of white, shiplap and an open concept main floor. On the exterior I removed and rebuilt from scratch all the windows, added new doors and a faux stone base. I also removed much of the ornate trim work that was on the house for a more classic clean-line look.
I then decided to do a full renovation on the house’s interior. This time I went with a more timeless classic look, which initially was inspired by the William Morris wallpaper I made for each room. I moved away from the open concept look I had initially done and added in walls and a center staircase. I also added more traditional trim work throughout the house and new flooring. The biggest change I made the second time around was changing all the furniture to more classic pieces and made the home more warm by layering different textures and colours in the house.
I really love how the second renovation came together and how the style is now much more fitted to the exterior. The warmer colours make the house more cozy and inviting, at least I think so.
This house is the among one of the largest in my collection and weighs a ton. There are times that I think it’s time to part with it, but after all the work put into restoring it I don’t know if I could.
If you scroll down you will see more interior photos of how the house looks today and who knows, if I hold on to the house long enough I might just have to renovate it again! :-)
